India creates history in Asian Kabaddi Championship, defeats Iran to become champion for the 8th time, Anurag Thakur congratulates
India defeated Iran in the final match played at Dong Yui Institute of Technology Seokdang Cultural Center on Friday. By defeating Iran, India has historically captured this title for the 8th time. India won the title by defeating Iran 42-32 in the final match.
Till now, this championship has been played nine times in India’s possession. India has won this tournament a record eight times while Iran won once in the year 2003. In the beginning of the game, the Indian team kept lagging behind, but later the team made a great comeback. The Indian team all out the entire Iran team in the 10th minute thanks to successful raids by captain Pawan Sehrawat and Aslam Inamdar. Captain Pawan also achieved Super 10 in this match.
The Indian team maintained its strong rhythm in the match. On the basis of this strong performance against Iran, the Indian team was able to take a good lead. Although Iran got some lead due to India’s mistake in the match, but the Indian players did not give Iran a chance to move forward with their fast pace and made the team all out.
According to the information, India had a 23-11 lead in the first half of the match, after which Iran’s captain Mohammadreza Shadlu Chayaneh made a super raid for two points and dismissed India for the first time in the 29th minute. With two minutes left, the Iranian team tried to take the lead but the Indian team did not give Iran a chance and eventually won the match 42-32. With this, India also captured the championship.
