Indian Open golf will return after four years

The Indian Open golf tournament will return this month after a gap of four years with a host of top national and international golfers taking part. Returning after the Kovid-19 disruption, the prize money of this tournament has also been increased. Scheduled to be held from February 23 to 26 at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, the tournament was last played at the same venue in 2019 and was subsequently canceled due to restrictions related to the COVID pandemic. A total of 120 golfers, including India’s star players like Shubhankar Sharma and Shiv Kapur, will be vying for the title in the USD 2 million tournament.

Foreign and other Indian players ranked in the top 100 are also expected to participate in the tournament. International stars will include defending champion Stephen Gallacher of Scotland, 2018 Ryder Cup-winning captain Thomas Bjorn of Denmark, his compatriot and Ryder Cup teammate Thorbjorn Olesen as well as Scotland’s top golfer Robert McIntyre to challenge for the title. The winner will get $3,40,000 while the runner-up will get $2,20,000.
