Indian Premier League: Hyderabad will start afresh under the leadership of Markram against Lucknow

Lucknow. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who suffered a crushing defeat in the first match, will look to make a fresh start in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Lucknow Supergiants here on Friday after the return of their players from South Africa, including new captain Aiden Markram. Will descend Sunrisers, led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, suffered a crushing 72-run defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals in the first match in the absence of Markram, but now with their captain Marco Johnsen and Heinrich Klaasen joining the team, they have got strength. Sunrisers finished last in 2021 and eighth among 10 teams last year. To do well this season, they will depend heavily on Markram’s leadership skills.

But he had a disappointing performance in the first match. In this match, Rajasthan Royals had scored 85 runs for one wicket in the power play itself and then defending the score of 203 runs for five wickets, gave only 30 runs for two wickets in the first six overs. Sunrisers, coached by Brian Lara, will now have to perform well, especially in the power play. The arrival of Markram has strengthened their batting while Johnsen can sharpen their bowling. In the last match, except T Natarajan, none of his bowlers could perform well. Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqui took two wickets but gave away 41 runs for it.Bhuvneshwar Kumar, despite being experienced, could not impress while Umran Malik proved costly. Washington Sundar and Adil Rashid also failed to perform well in the spin department. If Sunrisers have to put pressure on the opposition batsmen, then both of them will have to perform better.

In batting, except Mayank Agarwal, two other Indians Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi could not perform well in the top order which will be a matter of concern for Sunrisers. As far as Lucknow is concerned, skipper KL Rahul’s form is a matter of concern as he has not been able to convert good starts into big scores. Kyle Myers, however, had scored half-centuries in the first two matches by presenting a brilliant example of his aggressive batting.Among the bowlers, England fast bowler Mark Wood and Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi have done exceptionally well for Lucknow so far. If he is consistent in his performance, then he can create trouble for the Sunrisers batsmen.
