Indian shooters win all medals in mixed team event of Cairo World Cup

Indian shooters on Monday made a clean sweep of the mixed team air pistol and rifle events at the ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) World Cup here. R Narmada Nitin and defending world champion Rudraksh Balasaheb Patil won the 10m air rifle mixed team event to give India its first gold. Then on Sunday, individual bronze medalists Varun Tomar and Rhythm Sangwan won the 10m air pistol mixed team event to take India to the top of the medals tally with two gold and a bronze.

There are six more finals left in the tournament. The young Indian pair of Sangwan and Tomar topped the qualification round in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with a combined score of 583. The Indian pair defeated the experienced Serbian pair of Zorana Arunovic and Damir Micek in the final. This pair of Serbia has won the silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Narmada and Rudraksh scored an impressive 635.8 in the Olympic event. The Indian pair topped the qualification round of the 38-team event of 60 marks. They then defeated Hungary’s Ajtor Danes and Istvan Peni 16–6 in the gold medal match.
