Jay Shah shared the schedule of Asia Cup 2023 before the official schedule, PCB objected

The Asia Cup 2023 schedule has been jointly released by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). According to this schedule, this time the tournament will be held in hybrid model. This time matches will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the tournament.

At the same time, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed its displeasure over the release of this schedule. The PCB expressed displeasure with BCCI Secretary and Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah for revealing the schedule of the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 before the official ceremony in Lahore.

According to the information, PCB had prepared to release the schedule of Asia Cup through an event in Lahore on 19th July. The trophy was also to be inaugurated during this time. The event was attended by some former Pakistan cricketers and the PCB Cricket Management Committee (CMC) headed by Zaka Ashraf.

On the other hand, Pakistan has alleged that just 30 minutes before the start of the event, ACC President Jai Shah announced the Asia Cup schedule through social media. Due to this the PCB is feeling dissatisfied and disappointed. The PCB said that it is not right to release the schedule of the Asia Cup at such a early date. On this matter, ACC has said that there is a difference of half an hour in the time between India and Pakistan. In such a situation, 30 minutes early has happened only because of this difference.

Will start from 2nd September
According to the schedule released by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Wednesday, India will open their Asia Cup campaign against Pakistan in Kandy on September 2 while they will again face their arch-rivals in the Super Four stage on September 10 in Colombo. There could also be a chance that India and Pakistan will face each other for the third time within 15 days and this could happen if both the teams qualify for the final to be held on September 17 at the Premadasa Stadium.

The six-team one-day tournament will begin in Multan on August 30 with hosts Pakistan facing Nepal. This tournament will be important for the preparations for the ICC World Cup. The Asia Cup is being played on the basis of ‘hybrid model’ in which four matches will be played in Pakistan while nine other matches including the final will be held in Sri Lanka’s Kandy and Colombo. Apart from India, Pakistan and Nepal are in Group A while Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are the teams in Group B. ACC President Jay Shah said in a release that after the first round, Pakistan will remain A1 and India A2 teams, irrespective of their positions. If neither of these two teams qualify, Nepal will take their place. Similarly, Group B will have Sri Lankan team B1 and Bangladesh B2 team.
