The existence of this river was in danger due to illegal sand mining. The villagers were upset to see its condition as it is considered to be the lifeline in the Murhu area of Khunti. The villagers along with the District Administration and Sewa Welfare Society worked on a plan to give it a new life and now it has also been successful. In fact, the villagers along with the district administration and Seva Welfare Society have built ten serial sack dams (storing water using sand bags) on this river, the result of which is now visible. After the construction of the Bori dam, the river is full of water for eight kilometers from Ganaloya Pump House in Murhu to Ghaghari village.
