Kohli said after the defeat against Knight Riders, we gifted them the victory

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli said after their 21-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League here on Wednesday that his players made too many mistakes on the field and gifted victory to the opposition team. Chasing Knight Riders’ target of 201, RCB’s team could only manage 179 for eight despite Kohli’s (54 off 37 balls, six fours) half-century. Apart from him, only Mahipal Lomror (34) and Dinesh Karthik (22) could cross the 20-run mark.

For the Knight Riders, leg-spinners Varun Chakraborty (3/27) and Suyash Sharma (2/30) took five wickets together. Andre Russell (2 for 29) also got two wickets. Knight Riders had earlier scored a strong score of 200 runs for five wickets with the half-century of Jason Roy (56 runs in 29 balls, five sixes and four fours) and the flamboyant innings of captain Rana (48 runs in 21 balls, four sixes, three fours). Made it stand Kohli said after the match, “To be honest, we gifted him the match.

We deserved to lose. We didn’t play professional enough. We bowled well but the fielding was not up to standard. We gave them a free gift.” RCB fielders gave two lives to Knight Riders skipper Rana while Roy also dropped a catch. Kohli said, “We missed two chances in the field which cost us 25 to 30 runs. We were in a good position with the bat but then we lost 4-5 wickets easily. They were not wicket-taking balls but we hit shots straight into the hands of the fielders. Chasing down the target even after losing wickets, a partnership got us back in the match. We couldn’t get a better partnership.
