Mairaj, Ganemat make good starts in Shotgun World Cup

Veteran Indian skeet shooter Meraj Ahmed Khan made a brilliant start to his campaign at the ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) Shotgun World Cup, shooting 74 out of 75 hits in the qualification round. He remains seventh in the list of 114 players. In the women’s section, young shooter Ganemat Sekhon shot 71 in the qualification to remain at the 10th position.

Both will compete in two more qualifying rounds of 25 marks each to make it to the eight spots in the main round in their respective categories. Among other Indian shooters in the men’s section, Anantjit Singh Naruka and Gurjot Khangura missed three targets and are placed 33rd and 66th respectively. Shiraz Sheikh, competing for ranking points, shot 72. Apart from Ganemat, Darshana Rathore and Maheshwari Chauhan, who are challenging in the women’s section, are at 17th and 20th places respectively with scores of 71. Sanjana Sood, playing for ranking points, hit 69 accurate shots.
