My character Amba has shades of grey, says Priya Tandon with layers of innocence, loyalty and betrayal
Priya Tandon’s Amba is an important character in Vidrohi. Amba has been the housekeeper for years and is considered an integral part of the family. The actor is enjoying playing the role.
“Amba takes care of all the needs of the family members, especially Radhamani (Smoldering Panigrahi) who treats her like a younger sister. When around family, she is honest and loyal yet always on alert, but when it comes to her baby Hari, she can do anything even if it destroys the happiness of the family. So there are both positive and negative aspects about him. Her shades of gray make her look real.” She adds further.
Priya connects with the fact that Amba is strong, confident as well as passionate. “I totally relate to this side of him. Also Amba teaches me new aspects of life every time. it’s very interesting” Actor says, The show is unique as it unfolds a significant history from the pages of the Indian freedom struggle.
She also shares that the vibes on the sets are amazing. “It is as if I have come to visit my relatives for some festival. Everyone on the sets is there to give their best and work towards the success of the show.”
It takes Priya 40 minutes to do her hair and makeup. Then there are tattoos and jewelry which take some time. “Our costume designer did a great job and the costumes are well designed and fit very well. I love the ikat prints and the tribal designs that are done so precisely” She shares.
The actress is happy with the response to her look from the show, especially for the screen and tattoos. His acting is also being praised. “Everyone on set is determined to make the show look and feel closer to the original time period. Period pieces like this are tricky and need to be managed well” She says.
Talking about Gatha Productions and working with both the makers, Priya further says, “So far it has been fantastic. Subrata Sinha Sir and Bodhisattva Sir both are very nice, keep feeding us sweets and always a call away.
