Pakistan join India in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final from Super 12 Group 2 after beating Bangladesh by five wickets at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday. Before the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, an exciting match was seen between Netherlands and South Africa at the same venue. In which the Netherlands defeated the African team by 13 runs and then gave Pakistan a golden opportunity to make it to the last-four stage. Pakistan restricted Bangladesh to a total score of 127/8. Shaheen Afridi took four wickets while bowling brilliantly. Left-handed opener Najmul Hossain Shanto hit a 48-ball 54 on a difficult pitch but Bangladesh could not score runs in the end as Afridi was followed by Pakistani spinners. After the early dismissal of Liton Das, Shanto and Soumya Sarkar (20 runs, 17 balls, one four, one six) laid the foundation for Bangladesh with a 47-ball 72-run stand for the second wicket. At this time it seemed that the team would score more than 150 runs but then Shadab Khan (2 for 30) started the process of losing wickets. The leg-spinner took two wickets in two balls which included Bangladeshi captain Shakibul Hasan’s suspected DRS dismissal for zero.

In reply, Pakistan openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam once again disappointed their fans with their slow start. The pair, struggling to score runs, used 57 runs to add 50 runs for Pakistan. Nasum Ahmed ended Babar’s innings for 33 runs. Soon after, Rizwan joined his captain in the dugout. The incoming Mohammad Nawaz also struggled before being dismissed for 4 off 11 balls. Mohammad Harris and Shan Masood chased down the target without losing time and with their quick hitting, took the run rate up as well. Harris gave a simple catch just a short distance from the win. Masood eventually led Pakistan to a five-wicket victory.
