San Lorenzo de Almagro officially announced the hiring of Pedro Troglio as the new coach of his first team, a position that had been vacant since the departure of Uruguayan Paolo Montero and was temporarily occupied by Diego Monarriz.
Troglio, who has just won a four-time championship with Olimpia of Honduras, ended up being chosen after the Barça leaders failed in their attempt to hire Hernán Crespo, first, and Alexander “Cacique” Medina, later.
There was also a refusal from the institution’s idol, Leandro Pipi Romagnoli, whom the club wanted to impose on the physical trainer Alejandro Kohan within its coaching staff.
“After meeting with President Horacio Arreceygor and manager Mauro Cetto, and thanks to the excellent predisposition of the Olimpia club, Pedro Troglio agreed to his arrival in San Lorenzo. The former technical director of Independiente, Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, Villa Dálmine, Godoy Cruz de Mendoza, Argentinos Juniors and Tigre, among others, had met in the last hours with the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Matías Lammens (former president of the “Cyclone”), and agreed on the terms of the contract.

The position of DT of San Lorenzo, and beyond the interim position of Diego Monarriz (in the final eight days), was vacant since the 17th date of the recent Professional Football League tournament, when the Uruguayan Montero resigned after the fall to Lanús by 3 to 1 in the New Gasometer.
