Piyu Potadar member of the World Designing forum Breaking Fashion Boundaries in Rural Karnataka
Piyu Potadar, an established fashion designer, has taken the fashion industry by storm with her unique fusion of traditional and modern designs. Born into a goldsmith family in a small rural town Examba in Karnataka, Piyu faced several challenges as she pursued her passion for fashion design.
After getting married, Piyu completed her fashion design course without any support or financial backing. Her early life was tough, but her determination to do something and make everyone proud of her kept her going. She started creating a fusion of traditional and modern designs that soon caught the attention of the fashion industry.
Piyu’s designs are unique and blend traditional motifs with modern silhouettes. Her creations reflect the rich cultural heritage of rural Karnataka, and she takes pride in promoting it through her designs. Piyu believes that fashion is a force that can break the shackles of age-old beliefs and empower women in rural areas.
In a recent interview, Piyu said, “The women in rural areas are often conservative due to age-old beliefs. Fashion is the force that breaks these shackles in a way that makes them confident and feel proud of themselves. My aim is to provide creative artwork services in stitching in a small rural setup, which is being experimented with for the first time.” Also I am proud to be connected with World Designing Forum and it’s CEO Mr Ankush Anami’s vision, where all together we are working on the upliftment of artisans and weavers and handloom based fabrics of India after being selected for the Core Committee of WDF.
Piyu’s innovative designs have received accolades from the fashion industry, and she has been featured in several fashion shows and exhibitions. She is a role model for many young designers and has inspired several women in rural areas to pursue their dreams.
