Poland announces team for World Cup, Lewandowski captains team

Poland captain Robert Lewandowski will take charge of his team’s hopes at the Football World Cup to be held in Qatar. Coach Jesaw Missionewicz announced the 26-player squad on Thursday. In the tournament, 34-year-old Lewandowski will captain the team, who has scored 76 goals in 134 matches for the team. He will also try to score the first goal in the World Cup.

Lewandowski could not score in the last World Cup in Russia in 2018 in which the team was eliminated in the group stage itself. Poland’s team will start their campaign in Group C in the World Cup against Mexico on 22 November. Four days later, the team has to play Saudi Arabia and then on November 30, they will meet Argentina.
