Shreyas Iyer got a chance in the second Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy between IndvsAus, included in the team

New Delhi. Middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has recovered from a back injury and has been included in the Indian squad for the second Test against Australia starting February 17. Iyer played in the two-Test series against Bangladesh in December but missed the ODI series against New Zealand due to lower back inflammation. He did not even play in the first Test match against Australia in Nagpur.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement on Tuesday saying that the BCCI medical team has cleared Iyer to play and he will join the Test team in Delhi. “Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer has completed his treatment at the National Cricket Academy following a back injury and has been cleared to play by the BCCI medical team,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement. Shreyas will join the team in New Delhi ahead of the second match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

India lead the four-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test by an innings and 132 runs in Nagpur. The Indian team for the second Test is as follows. Rohit Sharma (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), R.K. Ashwin, Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav.
