PV Sindhu pulls out of BWF World Tour finals

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu has pulled out of the BWF World Tour Finals, the final badminton event of the season, as she is yet to fully recover from a left ankle injury. Sindhu, the 2018 champion in this competition, was injured during the Commonwealth Games in August. The BWF World Tour Finals will be played in Guangzhou, China from December 14. Sindhu’s father PV Ramanna told PTI, “Her doctor has asked her to rest for a few more days so that she is fully fit before the new season. He considered all aspects. There are many restrictions in Guangzhou and it has taken this decision keeping in mind the new season.

“She started practicing two weeks ago and by January she will be fully fit,” he said. Keeping all these things in mind, he has sent a letter to the Badminton Association of India informing about his decision.” Sindhu’s withdrawal means that only HS Prannoy will represent India in the prestigious tournament.
