R Ashwin’s amazing in ICC Ranking, continues on top, Williamson also on top

Dubai. Team India and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin retained the top spot in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday while New Zealand captain Kane Williamson surpassed England’s Joe Root to become the number one batsman. The Indian team, which lost the World Test Championship final against Australia last month, remains at the number one position. Ashwin also ranks first in the bowlers’ list. This senior off-spinner has 860 points. Australia captain Pat Cummins has gained two places to reach second place. He has 826 marks.

India’s Ravindra Jadeja continues to top the all-rounder’s list with 434 points. Ashwin has also remained at the second position in this list but Akshar Patel has slipped to the fifth position in the list of all-rounders. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is India’s top batsman at number 10, away from cricket after being injured in a car accident in December last year. Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are at 12th and 14th position respectively. Shubman Gill is fifth in the ODI batting rankings while Kohli (8th) and Rohit (10th) are also in the top 10.

Mohammed Siraj is the only Indian in the top 10 in the bowlers’ list. He is in second place. Root, the former England Test captain, has slipped to fifth position, making Williamson the number one batsman once again. Williamson reached the top of the rankings for the sixth time. He had achieved the top ranking for the first time in November 2015. He last became the number one batsman in August 2021. Australia’s Steve Smith has jumped four places to the second spot after his man-of-the-match scores of 110 and 34 in the second Ashes Test against England. Smith last achieved the top ranking in June 2021 by overtaking Williamson. He was at the top for a few weeks after which Williamson became the number one batsman again. There is a tough fight for the top spots in the batting list. Smith is just one point behind Williamson’s 883 rating points in the weekly rankings update. Marnus Labushen (873) and Travis Head, who are in third place, also have a difference of only one point. England batsman Ben Duckett jumped 24 places to break into the top 20 for the first time. He played innings of 98 and 83 in the second Ashes Test. England captain Ben Stokes has also moved up nine places to 23rd position after scoring 155 runs in the second innings.
