Bad weather has put Australia’s hopes of sweeping South Africa to book a place in the World Test Championship final in tatters as the third Test headed for a draw. Matches were delayed on the first two days due to rain and bad light, and no play took place on Friday. Australia have scored 475 runs for four wickets in the first innings and Usman Khawaja is at the crease on the score of 195. Now Australia are in a dilemma as to how many runs they need to score in the remaining two days and how much time will it take to get South Africa out for the second time as the pitch is not helping the spinners.
It has been raining here since Friday morning, due to which the groundsmen did not get a chance to prepare the field. Australia have already won the series with the first two Tests. A win in the third Test would have sealed his place in the World Test Championship final in England in June. Khawaja scored his third consecutive century on Thursday and has also scored his career-highest score. Earlier, his highest score was 174 against New Zealand in Brisbane in 2015.
