Rohit Sharma was born on 30 April 1987 in Bansod, Nagpur district of Maharashtra. His father Gurunath Sharma worked in a transport firm house. His mother’s name is Purnima Sharma. His full name is Rohit Gurunath Sharma. Rohit also faced poverty and financial hardship in his childhood. Due to financial constraints, Rohit’s childhood was spent with his grandfather. He used to visit his parents occasionally. Rohit was fond of playing cricket since childhood.

Seeing his inclination towards cricket, Rohit’s uncle got him admitted in a cricket camp. Where impressed by Rohit’s talent, his coach Dinesh Lad got Rohit’s school changed by getting him a scholarship. Rohit started his career as a bowler. With time, his batting talent also went on improving. He scored a century in a match with a school.

Rohit Sharma’s batting had impressed many coaches. Because of which he was selected for the West Zone in the Deodhar Trophy against the Central Zone in the year 2005. Although Rohit could not show anything special in this match. After this, Rohit’s unbeaten innings of 142 against North Zone brought him into the limelight.
