Samson ruled out on advice of medical team, Jitesh included in squad: BCCI

Pune. Sanju Samson was ruled out of the T20I series against Sri Lanka on the advice of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team and was replaced by Vidarbha wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma. Samson was injured while trying to stop the ball near the boundary line during the first T20 International at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday. His left knee was injured. According to a statement released from the board on Wednesday night, “The BCCI medical team got Samson scanned in Mumbai and took expert opinion. He has been advised rest and ‘rehabilitation’. Jitesh Sharma has been included in the team in place of Sanju Samson by the All India Senior Selection Committee. They have got the fruits of it.

The Indian team is ahead 1-0 in the three-match series. Its second match will be played in Pune. Indian Team: Hardik Pandya (Captain), Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Akshar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Umran Malik, Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar.
