Shotgun World Cup: Prithviraj misses the cut, India joint third

Prithviraj Tondaiman missed out on an individual medal for the second successive World Cup and finished ninth in the shoot-off in the men’s trap event at the Shotgun World Cup. Prithviraj, who won his first individual medal in Doha earlier this year, shot 119 in the fifth and final qualification round. He then played a four-player shootout for the remaining three spots to break into the top eight but missed the first shot. Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Jiri Liptak of the Czech Republic won the men’s gold, while Portugal’s Maria Ines Coelho de Barros won the women’s title.

India finished joint third in the Shotgun World Cup and the only gold medal was won by the skeet mixed team consisting of Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Ganimat Sekhon. Italy finished on top, winning one gold, three silver and one bronze. In the men’s trap event, India’s Zorawar Sandhu finished 14th and Bhavnish Mendiratta finished 19th. In the women’s section, Shreyasi Singh finished 20th and Rajeshwari Kumari finished 23rd. Preeti Rajak finished 26th.
