Dubai. India captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remained static at ninth and 10th spots respectively in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Rankings released on Wednesday, while Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul made jumps. Iyer has moved up seven places to joint 20th after scoring 24 runs in the first ODI against Bangladesh and 49 in the final match against New Zealand.
Rahul, on the other hand, has jumped four places after scoring 73 runs in Mirpur to reach the 35th position. Rohit and Kohli are the two Indian batsmen in the top 10. Among the bowlers, the pace duo of Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur also benefited from their good show in the opening ODI against Bangladesh.
Siraj is joint 26th with Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga while Thakur has gained nine places to reach 42nd position. Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has gained seven places to reach ninth position among bowlers after his five-wicket haul against India. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has gained four places to reach sixth place in the rankings for ODI bowlers after his figures of four for 37 in the final match of the Super League series against Sri Lanka.
Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne has overtaken England’s Joe Root to take the top spot in the Test player rankings after becoming the eighth player to score a double century and a hundred in the same Test. Labuschagne was just two points behind Root before the two ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Tests, but has now widened the gap at the top. Root has slipped to the fourth position. He is behind Steve Smith and Babar Azam.
