Shubman Gill reaches best fourth position in ODI rankings

Indian opener Shubman Gill moved up to a career-best fourth position in the list of batsmen in the latest ICC (International Cricket Council) ODI player rankings released on Wednesday. Apart from Gill, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are also in the top 10. Kohli also gained one place to reach the seventh position while Rohit remained at the eighth position in the batsmen’s rankings, which is headed by Pakistan captain Babar Azam.

Fast bowler Mohammad Siraj retained the top 10, he is the only Indian bowler to feature in the list. He remains at number three behind Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood and New Zealand’s Trent Boult. South Africa’s Aiden Markram has gained 13 places to reach 41st position in the batting list and has gained 16 places to reach 32nd position in the all-rounder list. South Africa defeated the Netherlands 2–0 in the three-match series in Johannesburg. New Zealand’s Henry Nicholls has gained two places to reach 69th position in the batting list.

In the T20 International rankings, Suryakumar Yadav has also retained his top position in the batting list while Hardik Pandya has retained his second position in the all-rounder list. Bangladesh’s Liton Das has gained one place to reach No. 21, his career-best ranking. In the bowling list, Mahish Tikshna has gained three places to reach 10th position while Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed has gained three places to reach 36th position.
