Spanish League: Madrid beat Almeria 4-2 with Benzema hat-trick

Barcelona. Karim Benzema scored a first-half hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Almeria 4-2 in the Spanish league here on Saturday. With this win against Almeria, Madrid’s team remains in second place. Meanwhile, Barcelona retained their 11-point lead at the top of the points table after beating Real Betis 4-0, playing with nine men.

Madrid are due to play the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna next weekend, before taking on Manchester City in the Champions League semi-finals three days later on May 9. Elche meanwhile recorded their biggest win of the season, beating Rayo Vallecano 4–0. Last-placed Elche still need 16 points to avoid relegation with just six matches remaining.
