Sports world admired Kohli’s historic innings in victory against Pakistan
The sports world, led by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, praised Indian batsman Virat Kohli for his historic knock of 82 not out in the T20 World Cup against Pakistan. In front of over 90,000 spectators at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 off 53 balls to guide India to a memorable four-wicket win on Sunday. Tendulkar and former Indian team captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly termed Kohli’s innings as amazing.
Tendulkar tweeted: Virat Kohli, undoubtedly this was the best innings of your life. It was a pleasure to watch you play, a six off the back foot at long on against Rauf in the 19th over. Keep it up. Ganguly told reporters at Eden Gardens: He is a great player. He missed a century but he has played a brilliant innings. There was a great atmosphere at the MCG and it was a memorable win. Former Australia opener Mark Waugh said: I don’t think we would have seen a better T20 match than what we have seen at the MCG. Both the teams performed wonderfully. Virat is a unique batsman of his kind. Yuvraj Singh, the hero of the Indian team’s 2011 ODI World Cup victory, referred to Ravichandran Ashwin’s last ball batting. Yuvraj wrote: Ashwin showed amazing mentality except the wide ball. What a great match it was.
