Sukhjit said that India will try to take advantage of the experience of FIH Pro League in the World Cup

Indian men’s hockey team forward Sukhjit Singh said the team will try to take advantage of the experience of playing against Spain and England in the FIH Pro League and Wales in the Commonwealth Games in the World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela this month. He also said that the five-match home series against Australia brought out many positive aspects of the team and also revealed areas that needed to be worked on.

India will host the World Cup from January 13 to 29 in which 16 teams from across the world will participate. India is placed in Group D along with England, Spain and Wales. According to a Hockey India release, Sukhjeet said, “We have Spain, England and Wales in our pool. We played against Spain and England in the Pro League last year. Also we faced Wales in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. So we will look at our performance in those matches and prepare accordingly keeping in mind the positive and negative aspects.

India will start their campaign against Spain on 13th January. The Indian team has been practicing in Rourkela since December 27. Sukhjeet, who is going to play in the World Cup for the first time, said, “We played a five-match Test series against Australia. There have been many positive aspects of this tour but there are some areas where we need to improve. So we’re working on those areas in practice.
