Sushma Verma said, it is difficult to stop Harmanpreet Kaur in WPL

Mumbai Gujarat Giants wicket-keeper batsman Sushma Verma has admitted that India and Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur is finding it difficult to stop in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Harmanpreet hit seven fours and two sixes against Gujarat Giants on Tuesday, hitting a blistering 51 as the team posted a formidable 162 for eight in 20 overs. In response, Gujarat’s team could only manage 107 runs for nine wickets and had to face defeat by 55 runs. Verma said that even though Gujarat Giants have executed their plans well against Harmanpreet, it is difficult to stop batsmen like her when she is in form.

Verma told the media after the match, “It is difficult to stop a batsman like Harman when he is in such good form.” It must have seemed so easy to make. From behind the wickets, I could see that the bowlers hit the right places against Harman but he used the small part of the ground very well. Verma said, “It is almost impossible to stop Harman right now but it also matters how well you are executing your plans which I thought was better in our case today.”

Verma said his team failed to build partnerships at the top of the order which resulted in their second defeat in two matches against Mumbai. Verma is confident that the Gujarat batsmen will be able to put up a united performance. He said, “It is important for us to win the remaining three matches. Our batsmen haven’t done well so far but hopefully they will be able to turn things around in the rest of the matches.
