Odisha government will give one crore rupees to the Indian football team for winning the Intercontinental Cup
Bhubaneswar. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a cash prize of Rs one crore to the Indian men’s football team for winning the Intercontinental Cup title here. Captain Sunil Chhetri’s 87th international goal and goals from Lallianzuala Chhangte helped India beat Lebanon 2-0 in the final at the Kalinga Stadium on Sunday night to lift the Intercontinental Cup. During the closing ceremony, Patnaik said, “It is a matter of great pride for our state to host the prestigious Intercontinental Cup. Congratulations to India for winning amidst stiff competition. We intend to host more football events in Odisha to help the growth of the game in Odisha and India.”

All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Kalyan Choubey thanked the Odisha government for successfully organizing the tournament. Choubey said, “We could not have asked for a better venue and end to the Intercontinental Cup. I thank the Government of Odisha for hosting a wonderful tournament and providing all kind of support and hospitality to the participating teams.
