Unai Simon saves two penalties in shoot-out as Spain win Nations League final

Rotterdam. Spain lifted the Nations League football tournament title on Sunday, defeating Croatia 5-4 in the final on penalties. Spain thus ended an 11-year title drought while Croatia and its experienced captain Luka Modric continue their wait for a maiden international title. Goalkeeper Unai Simon saved two Croatian penalties after the match was goalless in regulation and extra time to ensure victory for his side.

In the penalty shoot-out, with the score tied at 3–3, Simon saved a penalty from Lovro Maier and then Bruno Petkovic. Danny Carville then converted his penalty to seal the victory for Spain.
