India lost 0-3 to Morocco, out of the race for FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup quarterfinals
Hosts India lost three goals in the second half as they suffered a 0-3 loss to Morocco in their second Group A match here on Friday and the team was knocked out of the title race of the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup. Debuting Morocco, El Madani scored in the 50th, Yasmin Jouhir in the 61st and Cherif Jenah in the 90+1st minute to register their first win of the tournament. India is also making its debut by qualifying automatically as hosts. The team lost 0-8 to America in the opening match on Tuesday.
Now the Indian team will face Brazil in the final group match on 17 October. Morocco are still in the race for the quarterfinals as they have three points. Title contenders Brazil and the United States played out a 1-1 draw in another group match here on the day. Brazil and America now have four points each after two matches. Morocco suffered a 0-1 loss to Brazil on Tuesday.
The team will now play against America on October 17. After the match, Indian captain Astam Oraon said, “We fought hard but lost the match. We will try to give our best against Brazil. But in the match our defense and the goalkeeper (2nd goal) made some mistakes.
