India to play three ODIs, eight T20s and five Tests in domestic season 2023-24

The three-match ODI series against Australia will give India a chance to finalize their preparations ahead of the World Cup. Apart from this, the team will also play eight T20 Internationals and five Tests against England in the 2023-24 domestic season. The first ODI against Australia will be played in Mohali on September 22 while Indore and Rajkot will host the remaining two matches on September 24 and 27 respectively. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) announced the schedule of the domestic season on Tuesday. BCCI secretary Jay Shah had indicated that venues like Mohali, Nagpur, Rajkot, Indore, Thiruvananthapuram, which have lost out in the race to host World Cup matches, would make up for it during the home season and would get to host at least two matches.

The media rights tender is likely to be announced by the BCCI this week and hence the announcement of the schedule was necessary. India will not play ODIs in the home season after the World Cup to be held at home in October-November. With India taking part in the T20 World Cup in the US and West Indies next year, the Hardik Pandya-led side will play eight T20 matches in the home season. Team India will play five T20 matches against Australia a week after the ODI World Cup and then three T20 matches against Afghanistan in January 2024.
