BWF Ranking: Lakshya Sen succeeds in achieving career-best ranking
New Delhi. Commonwealth Games gold medalist Lakshya Sen has moved up a place to a career-best eighth spot in the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) latest men’s singles world rankings. Men’s doubles pair of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila are also close to making the top 20.
The pair have gained two places to reach a career-best 21st place in the rankings released on Tuesday. Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu remained at the sixth spot in the women’s singles rankings while the pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy remained at the eighth spot.
The 21-year-old Sen, who won a bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships, started the year with a gold medal at the India Open. He was runner-up at the prestigious All England Championships and the German Open. Sen was a key member of the team during India’s first title win in the Thomas Cup.
The in-form pair of Arjun and Dhruv have made good progress in the rankings after starting the year at 42nd position. Arjun and Dhruv, who recently won the India Maharashtra International Challenge title, are known for their upsets. The pair had defeated world number eight Danish Kim Astroup and Anders Rasmussen in just 40 minutes at this year’s World Championships.
