Trouble for Mumbai Indians is over, Sandeep Warrier replaces injured Jaspirt Bumrah

Mumbai Mumbai Indians on Friday included Sandeep Warrier in the squad for the Indian Premier League 2023 in place of injured fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah was ruled out of the entire tournament due to a back injury. Mumbai Indians said in a statement, “As an alternative to Jasprit Bumrah, right-arm fast bowler Sandeep Warrier will join the Mumbai Indians team. Sandeep, who will make his India debut in 2021, is an experienced player in the domestic circuit having played over 200 matches out of which 69 have been in the T20 format. He has taken 362 wickets in all formats so far in his career.

The team said, “Sandeep will join the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of the team’s first match of IPL 2023 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.” Has taken 83 and 62 wickets. He made his debut for India in the T20 format in July 2021 against Sri Lanka in Colombo. He represented Kerala in domestic cricket before moving to Tamil Nadu in 2020.

Mumbai Indians will open their campaign against RCB on April 2 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Bumrah had to undergo back surgery in New Zealand earlier this year, ruling him out of the entire IPL as well as the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June.

However, the 29-year-old right-arm fast bowler is aiming to make a comeback in the 50-over World Cup which India will host in October-November this year. Bumrah was seen watching the Women’s Premier League final with her Mumbai Indians teammates at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai last Sunday.

He was also seen interacting with England fast bowler Jofra Archer. Right-arm pacer Archer missed last year’s IPL due to an elbow injury and is all set to play for Mumbai Indians this year.
