Wellington. All-rounder Washington Sundar, who made a comeback to the T20 squad after being out of action for over a year due to injury, believes playing for England’s county side Lancashire has helped him do well in the ongoing limited-overs series in New Zealand. Can get Washington, who has been sidelined for most of the last one year due to injury, made a comeback in the home ODIs against South Africa last month. He is expected to do well in the limited overs tour of New Zealand.
Sundar said before the opening T20 match of the three-match series against New Zealand was called off due to rain, “I have spent a lot of time in NCA, it was a great experience playing for Lancashire before getting injured.” I have worked a lot on my body for fitness, especially on shoulders. This right-arm off-spin bowler said that New Zealand is one of my favorite countries. The weather and people here are really wonderful. Since we’ve moved here, we’ve enjoyed walking to restaurants and shops. We are enjoying our privacy here.
During the opening T20 match against New Zealand, the players of both the countries were enjoying football (a game like volleyball with the help of feet) in the rain when Sundar was standing there watching it. When Sundar was asked why he is not playing, he said that six years ago I injured my leg while playing football, after that I never play football. There are many things to do apart from football.” On this occasion, talented opener Shubman Gill shared his memories from his first time in New Zealand. He said that I came here for the first time during the Under-19 World Cup. I made my ODI debut right here in 2019.
I have many fond memories of New Zealand. Whenever I hear about coming to New Zealand it brings a smile on my face. He said that I am focusing on scoring one or two runs by running along with hitting big shots. Due to which dot balls had to be played less. I have realized that hitting a six is not about power, it is about timing. I just don’t want to do dot balls. I want that one or two runs should be taken continuously, boundaries should be imposed in between.
