WI vs IND: Virat Kohli achieved another achievement, Virender Sehwag left behind, Tendulkar retained on top

The first Test between India and West Indies is being played in Dominica. On the second day of the Test match, Virat Kohli achieved another milestone in his illustrious career. Coming into the bat after Shubman Gill’s dismissal on the second day of the first Test against the West Indies in Dominica, Kohli remained unbeaten on 36 as India consolidated their position at 312 for 2 in reply to Windies’ 150. During his stay in the middle order, Kohli achieved another historic feat. Kohli went past former opener Virender Sehwag to become the fifth highest run-scorer for Team India in the red ball format.

 

Leading the list is Sachin Tendulkar, who ended his career with 15,921 runs in Test cricket. Rahul Dravid, popularly known as The Wall, comes at number two. The current Indian head coach scored 13,265 runs while Little Master Sunil Gavaskar returned with 10,122 runs. VVS Laxman remains fourth with 8,781 runs, while Kohli now has 8,515 runs, surpassing Sehwag (who finished with an impressive 8,503 runs for India). It should be noted that Sehwag has a total of 8,586 runs, however, 83 of them came for World XI vs Australia.

 

Centuries by debutant opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma and a record first-wicket partnership between the two helped India post 312 for two at stumps on Thursday, the second day of the first cricket Test against the West Indies in the first innings. Both have made an unbroken partnership of 72 runs for the third wicket so far. India could only manage 232 runs in the full day’s 90 overs.
