Women World Cup: Sweden beat South Africa 2-1 with Amanda Elstad’s goal

Wellington. Amanda Elstad scored an 89th-minute goal to give Sweden a 2-1 victory over South Africa in their opening Group G match at the Women’s World Cup here on Sunday. This dashed South Africa’s hopes of causing the first major upset of the tournament. South Africa took the lead in the 48th minute through Hildah Migala, who put Sweden under pressure.

But Sweden equalized 1-1 in the 64th minute through Fridolina Rolfo. With just a minute left in the match, Amanda scored a header from a corner to give Sweden the victory.
