World Cup Qualifier: Zimbabwe one step closer to World Cup qualification
Called Sean Williams struck a second successive century to take Zimbabwe a step closer to a 50-over epic clash in India with a 14-run win over Oman in the Super Six stage of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers here on Thursday. Williams continued her fine form as Zimbabwe beat Oman in their opening match here to continue their Group A run.
Hosts Zimbabwe, who won all four matches in the group stage, now have six points in the Super Six stage as against the four points they got from the group stage. Oman made a lot of effort to reach the target of 333 runs with Kashyap Prajapati (103 runs) century, but the team could only manage 318 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs. Zimbabwe, after being put into bat, scored 332 for seven with Williams scoring 142 runs (103 balls). Williams has so far scored three centuries in five innings of the tournament and has played an inning of 91 runs.
