World Cup: Shahid Afridi raging on PCB, asked- does Ahmedabad’s pitch spew fire or ghosts come there

Both the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and India have accepted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) hybrid model for the 2023 Asia Cup. After this, the dates regarding the Asia Cup have also been announced. However, everyone’s focus is on the World Cup 2023. The schedule of the World Cup 2023 should have been announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) by now. However, some final touches are still to be done. It is believed that it is getting delayed due to the Pakistan Cricket Board.

 

If some reports are to be believed then the match between India and Pakistan can be played in Ahmedabad. However, Pakistan continues to refuse to play league matches in Ahmedabad. PCB’s stand angered former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi. He has questioned the logic of refusing to play at the Narendra Modi Stadium. As per reports, the BCCI has already sent the final draft of the World Cup schedule, which will begin on October 5 and have a blockbuster match on October 15. The schedule was then shared with all the participating countries to get their feedback. This was when Pakistan refused to play in Ahmedabad. It is one of the four venues where the Babar Azam-led side will compete.

 

Speaking to a local news channel, Afridi urged the PCB to allay their apprehensions and allow the Pakistan team to compete. He backed the side to victory against India in Ahmedabad. Afridi asked why are they refusing to play on Ahmedabad pitches? Does it breathe fire or is it haunted? Go and play – Go, play and win. If these are predetermined challenges, the only way to overcome them is with a comprehensive victory. At the end of the day what matters is the victory of the Pakistan team. The root is just lying there.
