Wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar have decided to take their agitation to the global stage by contacting Olympic medalists and sportspersons from foreign countries if former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is not arrested. . The wrestlers said on Monday that a major decision regarding the movement would be taken after May 21.

The country’s top wrestlers, including Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Asian Games gold medalist Vinesh Phogat, have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for the last 23 days demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan. He has accused Brij Bhushan of allegedly sexually harassing women wrestlers. A minor is also included in these wrestlers.

Jakarta Asian Games 2018 gold medalist Vinesh said, “We will take this performance to the world level. We will contact Olympians and Olympic medalists from other countries. We will write a letter to them seeking their support.” He also alleged that some people tried to malign the image of his protest on Sunday night. He also said that the wrestlers are being followed at the protest site. Vinesh said, “Some people tried to disrupt our performance. Last time this happened when we were bringing beds to the protest site.

“We are being followed,” he said. People are recording and taking pictures. When we stop them from doing so, they do not listen to us. Some unknown people (women) were also trying to sleep here (inside the tents set up by the wrestlers).” Vinesh said they will not limit their protest to Jantar Mantar and will share their pain with every citizen of the country. So the more we protest at other places, the better people will understand our situation.” Vinesh said, “Today we have decided to go to Connaught Place and talk to people there and seek their support in our fight for justice. We have fixed May 21 as the deadline (for action against Brij Bhushan) and if no action is taken, after that we will take a major decision on our agitation.
