WTC Final: India’s return on the second day, stopped Australia for 469 runs, Mohammad Siraj’s 4 wickets

When the second day’s play started, Steve Smith scored his century for Australia. While Steve Smith played a tremendous innings of 121 runs, Travis Head scored 163 runs. Apart from these two, Alex Carey also played an innings of 48 runs. Smith also returned to the pavilion after playing the ball outside the off side of Shardul Thakur on the wickets. This was Shardul’s first ball of the day. Smith hit 19 fours. Substitute Akshar Patel ran in from mid-off to run out Mitchell Starc with a sharp shot at the stumps to give India their fourth breakthrough of the day. The pitch has become easier for batting under the bright sun but the fast bowlers are still getting enough help.
