Announcement of election after January 5

Assembly elections in five states are to be announced in the first week of January. The last time i.e. in 2017, the announcement of elections in these states was done on January 4. But this time elections are likely to be declared after January 5. According to informed sources, on January 8 i.e. Saturday, the Election Commission can announce the election of five states including Uttar Pradesh. One of the reasons for the announcement of elections after January 5 is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has to go to Punjab on January 5, where he has to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate many big schemes.

The Prime Minister is going to inaugurate the satellite center of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMR) in Ferozepur on January 5. After that he will address a public meeting. It is being said that former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who has become a new ally of BJP, can also attend this public meeting. Keep in mind that out of the states where elections are to be held, in Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister has made many visits in the month of December itself and has laid the foundation stone and inaugurated at a brisk pace.
