BA.2 strain found in Omicron sample in Kolkata, health department worried, risk of community spread

Kolkata | Bengal Corona Updates: Amidst the ever-increasing cases of corona in West Bengal, now BA.2 strain has been found in 80 percent of the cases of Omicron, which has increased the fear of spreading cluster infection. In such a situation, the concern of the health department has increased even more.

The alarm bell is BA.2 strain

Bengal Corona Updates: According to the information, between 22 and 28 December, samples of corona infected were sent for genome sequencing. Omicron’s BA.2 strain was found in about 80 percent of the samples. The Ct level of these samples was below 30, indicating high viral load, which is an alarm bell. In this regard, Dipyaman Ganguly, immunologist of the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, says that these results have revealed that the BA.2 strain of Omicron is community spreading in Kolkata and its surrounding areas. Let us tell you that BA.2 has been confirmed in 34 samples.

21 thousand 98 cases of corona in 24 hours, 19 deaths
