Chitravel, Aldrin and Toor to participate in Indian Open

Pravin Chitravel, Jesvin Aldrin and Tejinderpal Singh Toor would be looking to produce their best in the second leg of the Indian Open – Throw and Jump events, starting here on March 1. With the domestic athletics season just beginning, the Indian Open will be the first major event where Asian and Olympic Games potential players will be pitted against each other.

A total of 195 athletes will compete in eight events – shot put, discus throw, discus throw and javelin throw (day 1), long jump, high jump, triple jump and pole vault (day 2). It will be organized here at the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS), which will be the first competition to be played here recognized by the Athletics Federation of India.

Chitravel is representing IIS in the tournament. He recently won a silver medal in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships by setting a national indoor record triple jump. 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Aldos Paul and silver medalist Abdullah Abubakar will also take part in the same event.
