Explosion in northern Afghanistan kills nine
Kabul | At least nine people were killed and 13 others injured within minutes of two explosions in northern Afghanistan on Thursday.
Mohammad Asif Waziri, spokesman for the Taliban-appointed police chief, gave this information. Two separate vehicles exploded in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, he said.
The cause of the blast could not be ascertained and a spokesperson did not comment on the matter. So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. Taliban security personnel have cordoned off the blast area.
