Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik and PM Narendra Modi discuss farmers, PM said did they die for me?

NEW DELHI: Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik once again attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he was arrogant after a brief meeting with the latter on the issue of farmers. According to a report in the Indian Express, the Meghalaya Governor met the Prime Minister on Sunday and discussed issues related to farmers. Later on Sunday, while addressing a program in Dadri, Haryana, Malik said that when I met the Prime Minister on the issue of farmers, I had a fight with him within only five minutes. He was so arrogant. When I told him that 500 of our people were killed, to which the PM replied, did they die for me? I said he died for you like you are the king. ( farmer discussion)

Peasants’ movement only postponed

Malik then said that PM Modi then asked him to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss all the issues. Meghalaya Governor suggested that Center should work to withdraw cases against farmers, give legal framework to MSP. He told reporters on the sidelines of an event organized in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri that the farmers’ movement has only been postponed, and it will resume if any injustice is done, where he was felicitated by the Phogat Khap. Responding to a question, he said the government will have to work sincerely to withdraw cases against farmers and give a legal framework (guarantees) on MSP. It is the responsibility of the government.

But if the government thinks that the movement is over, then it is not so. It has just been suspended. If injustice happened or any atrocities happened with the farmers then the movement would start again. Malik said that taking advantage of the opportunity after the repeal of agricultural laws, farmers should take decisions in their favor such as a legal framework for MSP. On his remark that he was not afraid of being asked to step down, Malik said, “I am always with the farmers. Appointed governors – in Jammu and Kashmir and Goa, before being posted to Meghalaya – during Narendra Modi’s tenure as prime minister, Malik has been taking a dig at the government.
