Messi goal helps Argentina beat UAE 5-0 in World Cup warm-up match

Abu Dhabi. Star player Lionel Messi stayed on the field throughout Argentina’s final warm-up match before the World Cup, scoring a goal as his side thrashed the UAE 5-0. With this, Argentina, who were among the strong contenders for the title, reached their unbeaten order to 36 matches. Messi scored the fourth goal for the team before the interval. Earlier, he also assisted on a goal for Julián Ivarez, who gave Argentina the lead in the 17th minute.

Angel Di Maria scored two goals for the team while Jokun Korea scored one goal. Messi has scored 10 goals in his last five appearances for Argentina, taking his tally of international goals to 91. Argentina will begin their World Cup campaign against Saudi Arabia in Group C on 22 November. Germany, on the other hand, beat Oman 1-0 in Muscat with a goal from debutant Niklas Falkrug. Poland beat Chile 1-0 in Warsaw with a late goal from Kristof Piatek.

Star player Robert Lewandowski did not feature in the match but is expected to play in the team’s first World Cup match against Mexico on 22 November. Mexico lost 1–2 to Sweden in their final warm-up match in Girona, Spain. Croatia beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 in Riyadh with a goal from Andrej Kramaric.
