Prayers, Mahamrityunjay chanting, how BJP leaders are facing PM security breach incident

New Delhi: A day after an alleged serious security breach around Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Punjab’s Ferozepur, BJP leaders across the country worshiped and prayed for Modi’s long life. Earlier in the day, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP veteran Shivraj Chouhan reached the state’s famous cave temple in Bhopal and offered special prayers for the well being of the Prime Minister after the incident. Mahamrityunjay chant for PM

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice-president Baijayant Jai Panda chanted Mahamrityunjaya for the long life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Jhandewalan temple in Delhi. According to Hindu mythology, Mahamrityunjaya Jaap, a special prayer dedicated to Lord Shiva, is performed to ward off negative energies, calamities and prevent untimely death providing long life to the devotee. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy, which was on its way to an election rally in Punjab’s convoy, got stuck on a flyover after a blockade by protesting farmers led to an alleged serious security breach.

Since then, BJP leaders, as well as opposition parties including AAP and Shiromani Akali Dal, have been condemning the Congress government in Punjab for endangering the PM’s security. After the Congress party including CM Charanjit Channi expressed regret over the incident and constituted a committee to probe the matter, a BJP delegation met the Governor on Thursday and demanded suspension of Punjab Home Minister and DGP. The party dismissed the committee saying those involved in the conspiracy cannot deliver justice. ( pm safety )
