Supreme Court to hear today

New Delhi. The matter of security lapse during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab has reached the Supreme Court. The matter will be heard in the Supreme Court on Friday. Significantly, due to the increasing cases of corona virus, all hearings in the Supreme Court will be virtual from Friday. In the petition given in this case, it has been said that the court should ensure that such an incident does not happen again.

A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramanna, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hima Kohli on Thursday considered the representation of senior advocate Maninder Singh. It said that there was a serious lapse in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Punjab on Wednesday. Because of this the Prime Minister’s convoy had to be stopped in Bathinda. After this the Prime Minister had to return to Delhi without attending a rally in Punjab. An urgent hearing was requested on the petition.

On this, the bench said – hand over a copy of this petition to the state government as well. We will be the first to hear it tomorrow. Maninder Singh said that the District Judge of Bathinda should be directed to seize all the evidence of the security arrangements made by the Punjab Police for the Prime Minister’s visit. He said that in view of what happened in Punjab, there should be an impartial inquiry into the security lapse and accountability should be fixed so that such situation recurs in future.
